Stress is a silent killer, and unfortunately, avoiding it in today’s world isn’t easy. We face stress daily, often without even realizing it. But, how we respond to stress is what truly matters.

Picture yourself caught in the middle of a storm, with nothing but a small boat to keep you afloat. Will you make it to shore? Will you fall overboard, but manage to swim back? Or will the storm overpower you?

These are all possible outcomes, but not all of them are guaranteed. Still, we often stress ourselves out by imagining every worst-case scenario as if it’s happening right now. Can you imagine what your brain and body go through when you do that?

Your body enters “fight, flight, or freeze” mode, responding to imagined threats as if they’re real. This puts you in a panicked state before anything has even happened. And guess what? Most of the time, the worst-case scenario never happens.

When stress clouds your judgment, you might not make the best decisions, simply because you’re too overwhelmed by things that might never occur.
